Let’s talk about curing sleep disorders, the definition of food, magnesium, how dancing is good for you, and why mosquitoes like you.
Well, half the year has past by. How you feeling? Are you still keeping any of your new year’s resolutions? Me too. The reality is that we all have a hard time creating new habits or eliminating unwanted ones. However, I want to remind you that tomorrow is a new day, and if there is something you consider very important that needs changing, then Monday, July 1st, is as good a day to start as any.
Consider for a moment that if you strive to lose 1 lb. a week, you will have lost 52 lbs. by this time next year. If you start doing pushups every Monday and say, Friday, you will increase your strength and possibly exceed 40 pushups this time next year. Whatever it is, start now. Do it now. Make it a joy, not a chore. BG

WHAT IS FOOD, ANYWAY?
You might think that’s an easy question. Food is what you eat and drink, right? Not quite. According to data from the George Washington Milken Institute School of Public Health, 60% of what American adults eat, and 70% of what kids eat, is chemical-filled, ultra-processed substances containing few or no nutrients. In other words, non-food.
Definition: food is “any nutritious substance that people eat or drink to maintain life and growth. But since most of what we eat is not actually food, eating is now the leading cause of death in the world. Yes, eating. The thing you have to do to survive is killing you.
But some very good news comes with this information: You can increase your intake of actual food very easily. Look for foods with five or fewer ingredients — preferably, ingredients you can pronounce. “Chickpeas, garlic, and olive oil” are food, “Butylated HydroxyAnisole” is not, and calling it “BHA” doesn’t make it food.
Before buying a “food” product, ask yourself if you would be able to reproduce it in your own kitchen. If not, maybe you shouldn’t eat some of the stuff that’s in it. If you could produce it at home, why not do that? Eating nutritious, delicious real food is one of the best ways to avoid disease and live younger for longer.

THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH
“I have hurled myself off the shores of my own fears and limiting beliefs to venture far out into the uncharted territories of my inner truth, in search of what it means to be genuine and at peace with who I really am. I have abandoned the masquerade of living up to the expectations of others and explored the new horizons of what it means to be truly and completely me, in all my amazing imperfection and most splendid insecurity.” – Anthon St.Maarten
