Let’s talk about consistency, fatigue, fascia, strong bones, and a daily strategy for exercising.

The secret to success is consistency of purpose”, credited to statesman Benjamin Disreali, and I believe this applies to all aspects of our life.  This Sunday I will be riding my bicycle 72 miles around Lake Tahoe in America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I’ve raised over $3700 for their cause (and a big thank you to all of you who have contributed to the cause) and I’ve ridden (practiced) over 600 miles since March 31st.  I won’t second guess myself that I could have done more, because I know I am ready enough.

All of us know someone who has been affected by the influence of cancer, and with happy or sad results.  I also know that no matter how much and how often we exercise, get enough sleep or eat properly, we still could contract some type of cancer.  It is possible that we can reduce the risk of contracting cancer, along with reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes, however.  It all comes down to how consistent you are in taking good care of yourself.

I challenge all of you to pick a goal that can lead you to a new level of vitality. By creating an environment or atmosphere of change, you will find it easier to focus on something worthwhile, joyous and satisfying.  Try it out for a few weeks and see if you don’t become stronger, or more flexible, or less heavy or a little wiser.  Whether you do anything or not, you will most certainly be older (whether you like it or not).    Dr. Ben
