Here at Griffes Chiropractic, we have a number of services to fit your specific needs. If you are experiencing pain, loss of function, feeling out of alignment, or looking to improve your health, we can help.
To assist all of our patients, we offer the following services:
Chiropractic spinal adjustments: Dr. Griffes has 35 years experience adjusting the spine, and continues to learn new techniques to improve his ability to deliver the best chiropractic experience for his patients. He uses a number of different methods that are gentle and non-force, and will adjust you in a manner that is the best for you. Dr. Griffes also includes spinal traction/decompression in his practice as an effective method for addressing herniated discs and sciatica.
Deep-tissue bodywork: Dr. Griffes is one of only a handful of people in the world who are chiropractors and trained as Hellerwork practitioners. Hellerwork is a method of deep-tissue bodywork designed to realign the muscles, release old habit patterns that contribute to tension and restriction in the body, and teach new patterns of movement that promote ease and efficiency. Dr. G continues to employ the basic principles of Hellerwork that he first learned in 1981 as an adjunct to his chiropractic care.
Exercise prescription: Dr. Griffes earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from CSUN in 1986, and continues to study the latest trends in fitness and conditioning. His book, Stretching for Life is in its 3rd edition, and he continues to teach his patients the benefits of stretching, along with practical suggestions for improving their health and fitness and their sports performance. Dr. G is also active in mountain biking, hiking, golf and disc golf.
Lifestyle coaching: Optimal health includes eating properly, getting adequate amount of sleep, watching your posture and have a positive mental attitude. Dr. Griffes works with his patients to help them with their weight management, sleeping well and improving their posture, usually with simple suggestions that can help make noticeable lifestyle improvements.

Conditions We Treat
Chiropractic care can be used to address a wide variety of symptoms and conditions. These are a few of the most common conditions we treat for which you might benefit from after a visit to our office.
Back Pain
Back pain may be focused on a specific area of the upper, middle, or lower back or be more generalized. This pain can be incapacitating, preventing you from moving or bending over. Our exam will help determine the potential cause (overuse, misuse or disuse) and the subsequent care that can help relieve the pain in the tissues along the back, and allow you to return to your normal activities.
Neck Pain
A feeling of sharp pain or achiness along the neck is most likely a sign or symptom of another underlying cause or issue. Poor posture is the most common, but mild traumas may also prevent you from having full range of motion, which can lead to other injuries. Chiropractic adjusting, along with supportive physical therapy, can help lessen and relieve the pain so you can regain full function and range of motion again, eliminating the pain.
Headaches
Headaches may range from mild aches to prolonged stabbing pain that can lead you to feel incapacitated. Issues that could trigger a headache may include lifestyle factors, underlying medical conditions, chronic illnesses, stress, drug reactions or even unknown reasons. Chiropractic care can help provide headache relief so the pain doesn’t slow you down.
Sciatica
The sciatic nerve exits the lower back and controls the function of your legs and feet. The nerve can be compressed at a number of different levels, causing pain, numbness, weakness or temperature changes in the legs, requiring myofascial releasing, spinal traction and specific chiropractic adjustments to help relieve the pressure and solve the problem.
Sports Injuries
Sports injuries are usually caused by an unplanned accident/trauma or by the overuse or misuse in training and competition that injures the muscles, joints and soft tissues in the body. Chiropractic care, along with myofascial releasing and correcting the dysfunctional imbalance, can help balance the body and help heal and restore the injured area back to normal function.
Carpal Tunnel
This hand condition involves the compression of the median nerve that may lead to numbness, a tingling sensation, or pain along the hand. Chiropractic treatment and deep-tissue bodywork focus on relieving the pain caused by the compression and providing corrective treatment & exercises that help prevent this from becoming a long-term condition.
Plantar Fasciitis
Some foot pain may be the result of plantar fasciitis, where the connective tissues that help support the foot may experience pain from misalignment or overuse. Dr. Griffes examines and evaluates the potential causes and then offers you a treatment program that will help heal, and ultimately reduce the likelihood of this happening again.
Runner’s Knee
Runner’s knee is usually pain in or around the knee caused by faulty biomechanics in the hip or ankle, causing the knee to move in an imbalanced way while walking and running, leading to pain and/or weakness in the muscles and knee joint.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain can occur in a number of places along the upper body such as shoulder blades, rotator cuffs, arm joints, or along the upper back. Our treatments focus on determining the root location of the problem and helping to soothe the shoulder pain you are experiencing.
Foot Pain
Foot pain may be caused by poor alignment, foot injuries, chronic conditions, or mileage. Deep-tissue bodywork, arch supports, adjusting the bones of the foot and re-evaluating the way you walk all may be part of the treatment plan to help relieve your foot pain.
Golfer’s Elbow
Golfer’s elbow is tendon inflammation along the inside of the elbow area. This pain and tenderness may extend down the forearm and into the wrist and usually due to poor biomechanics or repetitive stress.
Neuropathy
Neuropathy involves damage and pain to the nerves along the body that may be caused by compression or poor circulation originating in your spine. The location of the nerve damage may vary and can feel like pins and needles or a numbing sensation. Dr. Ben treats the impacted area by improving circulation and removing the compression with myofascial releasing and spinal decompression.
Tennis Elbow
Tennis elbow involves the inflammation of the tendon that is outside the elbow. It is a type of tendonitis from overextension, poor body mechanics or when doing repetitive motions. Dr. Ben looks to identify the underlying cause so he can help you relieve the pain so you can regain normal and pain-free function.
Knee Pain
Knee pain can consist of achiness, sharp pains, grinding, or a numbing sensation. The discomfort may become worse when doing certain activities or during prolonged sitting. Dr. Griffes helps figure out the reason for the pain, such as a misalignment in your ankle or hip, or poor biomechanics, which can then lead to the appropriate treatment program.
Chronic Pain
Chronic pain involves prolong tenderness, achiness, dull, or sharp pains that have not responded well to medication or other treatments. Chiropractic treatments may be a viable option to help lessen the pain by addressing the original cause.
Workplace Injuries
Workplace injuries may cause pain, compression, or discomfort in regions throughout the body. Chiropractic care services may become part of your pain management plan to treat the injury and relieve the pain.
Auto Accidents
Auto accidents may cause a range of different medical issues, from compressed nerves to misalignment of joints, to bruised muscles and damaged connective tissue. The treatment offered by Dr. Griffes will be tailored to your specific pain and injury in order to provide the maximum amount of relief in the quickest time possible.
Herniated Discs
A herniated disc is when the soft inner part of the spinal disc ruptures and pushes out through a tear in the outer ring of the disc and presses against the nerves. This problem can occur anywhere along the spine. One of the best ways to help relieve the pain is by opening the space between the vertebrae and allowing the bulging from the disc to pull away from the compressed nerve.
