Let’s talk about your immune system, caring for your eyes, nature as a cure, and staying healthy longer.

I will admit that I am always surprised when I get sick, usually with a cold. I think I’m perfectly healthy with a strong immune system and able to ward off all sorts of attacks from pathogens and other bad characters, but not always.  Two little children were my demise this week, with runny noses and sneezes all day Wednesday, and by Friday night the virus had overcome my defenses.

I felt more tired than usual, so I boosted my Vitamin C intake and went to sleep early.  Often that is all it takes to boost my immune system and get back to normal, and two days later I’m on the mend. So what can you do to reduce your risk of getting sick?

Wash your hands more often.  My grandchildren were in the house all day, so who knew how many surfaces they had touched.  I was a goner before I knew it.  Get to sleep early and let your body fight it out with the virus, which I did.  Boost your Vitamin C intake, as C is a basic building block in so many reactions in your body.  Reduce stress whenever you can.  When you aren’t fighting other problems like inflammation, worry or upset, your body then has the ammunition to battle the infection and help you recover quicker. Always wishing you good health.  Dr. Ben

“I studied the lives of great men and famous women, and I found that the men and women who got to the top were those who did the job they had in hand, with everything they had of energy and enthusiasm and hard work.”  Harry S. Truman

“The very first condition of lasting happiness is that a life should be full of purpose, aiming at something outside one’s self.”  Hugh Black
