Let’s talk about being cold and tight muscles, sensitive skin, superfoods for diabetes, workplace wellness, harmonious relationships, and wrist exercises.
Most people consider autumn as the most pleasant time of the year here in So Cal, and I tend to agree with them. However, one observation; we tend to have warm days and cool nights, so pay attention to your internal thermostat, particularly at night. I have found myself much colder now than during the summer months and have found myself “underdressed” without a sweatshirt or pullover, and have unintentionally tensed up against the cold, particularly in my shoulders and mid-back, resulting in tight and stiff muscles (I really hate the cold), so heat and stretching at night have helped reverse that tension. Just saying. BG

In your heart, you know this — your relationships affect your mental and physical health.
Harmonious relationships mean lower stress, better coping, reduced blood pressure, and improved day-to-day experiences. In fact, good relationships with your partner, family, and friends can even outweigh the effects of some of your bad habits. On the flip side, poor, or negative, relationships will stress your heart, tax your immune system, produce inflammation, and raise levels of cortisol. Together, they could increase your risk of heart attack and chronic disease — and even drive you to an early grave. Now science has proven what you’ve known all along. Marriage is good for you. Family and friends help keep you healthy. People with strong social ties are half as likely to die than those with weak relationships. And their risk of coronary heart disease is 2½ times less than people who don’t have a strong social network. Researchers found that if you have good relationships, you’re more likely to exercise, eat well-balanced meals, and obey doctors’ advice. For example, the people who care about you are the ones who keep an eagle eye on you, persuade you to drop bad habits, and adopt healthy ones like going to the gym or taking a walk. |
